Hundreds of publications and clinical studies testify about the positive impact of coconut oil on both our looks and our health. Inspired by the widespread use and effectiveness of the product we’ve decided to share with you several different ways and tips on how to turn coconut oil into your faithful ally in the never-ending struggle for better health and nourished face and body.
Coconut oil as a hair mask
This is probably the most common way of coconut oil application, in reference to care and beauty, and for a good reason. As a hair mask, coconut oil provides incredible results in making your hair soft, radiant and easy-to-style. Normally, it’s applied to hair’s ends where it stays on, for six hours or more. However, there’s nothing wrong with rubbing it into the scalp either. This is a perfect way to nourish your scalp, protect it from dryness, dandruff and improve the radiance of your hair.
Coconut oil for nail and cuticle care
If your cuticles are prone to drying and cracking, here is the definite cure. Every night before bedtime, apply a few drops of coconut oil around your nails, massage it in thoroughly and let the skin absorb the oil. You will notice the results after several uses.
Speaking of nails, it’s important to mention the effectiveness of coconut oil in a battle against fungal infection, i.e. fungi under the nails or the ones on your feet. Several medical studies have shown that monounsaturated fatty acids in the coconut oil can kill not only fungi but also bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause various infections in the human body.
Coconut oil as a lip balm
Lucky are those who do not know the torments of dry, chapped and irritated lips. Unless you are one of the lucky ones, coconut oil can come in handy once again. Its beneficial formula has a very positive effect on the condition of our lips, especially during the winter when windy, cold weather causes additional irritation. Even lip and oral cavity infections can be relieved or completely vanished by regular use of coconut oil. Furthermore, coconut oil has proven to be quite effective in treating gum diseases.
Coconut oil for body care
Whether you use it while taking a shower, as body oil or as a shaving aid, or whether you apply it to your body after bathing, or after drying the skin and preparing it for further treatments, coconut oil will make your skin extremely tender, soft to the touch, hydrated and nourished. Especially if your skin is naturally dry and demands more intensive care.
It will be particularly effective in those areas of the body that are chronically dryer than the rest: elbows, knees, heels… But that’s not all. Coconut oil is excellent for the prevention and battle against stretch marks. Regular use of coconut oil during pregnancy can prevent the onset of stretch marks, while its regular application to existing stretch marks can reduce their intensity.
Coconut oil for face care
Did you ever think, even for a minute, that coconut oil can’t possibly benefit the skin of your face? If so, you were in great mischief. First of all, you can very efficiently remove makeup with it. It can also serve as a great way to hydrate and nourish the skin. However, its impact is far wider than that. Coconut oil helps remove flecks from the face, fight various rashes, infections, and inflammations. There’s a long list of skin diseases in which coconut oil can be used as a medicine. This is associated with its antiviral and antibacterial effects, owed to a specific composition and medium fatty acids.
Coconut oil as facial, lips, and body scrub
Off-the-shelf scrubs can be quite expensive (especially scrubs for body and lips), but you can make homemade scrubs in your kitchen in just a few minutes, from groceries you already have. Best of all, it will be equally effective and beneficial for the skin of both your face and body as much as the purchased ones. Especially if they have coconut oil in them. In order to make such scrub, you just have to mix some coconut oil with a little bit of yellow sugar, or coffee. And that’s all. It’s an easy, fast and efficient treatment in the battle for the finer skin of the face and body.
Coconut oil as a medicine
Numerous scientific and medical studies have proven that coconut oil raises the level of energy, regulates metabolism, and thyroid function, that it has antibacterial and antiviral effect, regulates purulent flora, protects immunity, regulates the level of “good” and “bad” cholesterol, regulates blood sugar levels, eases anxiety problems, resolves numerous skin problems. Probably the best-known information refers to clinical trials conducted on HIV in patients, during which it has been confirmed that coconut oil can contribute to drastically reducing the amount of virus (from thousands of viruses to negligible amounts)! And all that with just two or three tablespoons of coconut oil a day. However, it is important to note that we should choose wisely and carefully the type of coconut oil which we intend to use for treatment and beautification. It’s important for it to be organic, extra virgin, unrefined, non-hydrogenated, non-deodorized and that it doesn’t contain any additives. Otherwise, not only that we’ll fail to get the desired effect, but we can also inflict unwanted damage to both our beauty and health.
